About DSRB

1 February 2008 - Online DSRB Application begins

From 1 Feb 08, the DSRB will cease to accept new DSRB Applications in hardcopy form. Investigators will be required to submit their new DSRB Applications via the B2BResearch Online system.

To facilitate the submission of online DSRB Applications for ethics approval as well as the migration of ongoing studies into B2BResearch Online, all investigators with ongoing studies are required to register for their B2BResearch Online accounts.

For current ongoing Studies that have not yet been migrated into the B2BResearch Online system, any submissions for these studies (amendments, UPIRTSO reports etc) can continue to be paper-based. Principal Investigators will be informed when their studies are migrated.

For more information, please refer to our B2BResearch Online Guidebooks, or you may contact the DSRB at 6471 3266.

.: The Domain Specific Review Boards (DSRBs)

The NHG Domain-Specific Review Boards (DSRBs) is an independent body constituted of medical/scientific and non-scientific members from all NHG institutions as well as independent members from outside NHG.

The DSRB's primary objective is to safeguard the rights, safety, and well-being of human research subjects in the National Healthcare Group and her institutions. The DSRB was established in January 2004, and is empowered under the auspices of the NHG Chairmen Medical Boards Committee. The DSRB's authority applies to all research conducted by/or under the direction of any employee of NHG; and all research conducted using property or facility of NHG

At the foundation of the NHG Human Subjects Protection Program is the NHG Research Ethics Committee (REC). The REC is appointed by the NHG Chairmen of Medical Boards Committee. The NHG REC is an overarching Committee that oversees the conduct of the DSRB. The REC is constituted of Chairs of the five Domains, key staff from NHG and external experts including two overseas experts. The REC is responsible for setting policies and crafting guidelines to ensure the protection of human research subjects in NHG.

.: The Five Domains

There are currently five boards that are based on broad but related disease groupings. Each of the five Domains, with 13 -15 members, is constituted in compliance with the Singapore Good Clinical Practices Guidelines.

The characteristic of such arrangement is to ensure that more appropriate expertise can be concentrated within each Domain to assess the scientific and ethical merits of the protocols submitted for ethics review.

The specialties under DSRB are as follows (as of 01 April 2008):-

NOTE: For Allied Health, Nursing & Para-clinical research protocols, please select the most appropriate Domain according to the main disease type/condition being studied. Do note that the DSRB may re-assign your application to another Domain upon preliminary review of your application.
